What does the Bible Say?

The Scriptures are the sole source for true teaching in the Church.  Unfortunately, many people confuse human opinion, tradition, or their own thoughts and feelings with God’s truth as revealed in the Holy Scriptures.

In this class, we dig deeply into the Scriptures focusing on the main topics of Christian Teaching.  We begin by looking at the Bible’s own claim to be the Word of God and the only authority for faith and life in the Church.  Next, we will look at how the Bible says we should rightly read and understand the teachings it contains.  Then, we will look at the main teachings of the Christian faith and answer questions such as: What is “sin”?  What does the Bible say is the way in which man becomes righteous in the sight of God?  What does the Bible teach about Jesus and His purpose and mission? What is the proper role of the Law in the life of the believer?  What does the Bible teach about the primary practices of the Christian religion, especially Baptism and Holy Communion?  What is the work of the Holy Spirit in the world today?  How does He accomplish this work?

These questions and many others will be investigated by looking at the text of Scripture itself.  Along the way, we will investigate whether and how the teachings of the Lutheran Church as well as the teachings of other denominations line up with what the Scriptures themselves declare to be true.

Join us each week on Wednesday night at 6:30 PM.  Classes are held year-round except during the church festivals of Advent and Lent.

If you have any questions about the class, don’t hesitate to contact the church office!
